New Zealand Genuine Student Guide

आफ्नो course, university, career plan र financial situation लाई मिलाएर New Zealand Student Visa का लागि genuine र evidence-based application कसरी तयार गर्ने?

Updated: 11 August 2026

New Zealand मा Australia को जस्तो fixed "4 GS Questions" format छैन।

Immigration New Zealand (INZ)

1. New Zealand Visa Officer

उदाहरणका लागि, तपाईंले Nepal मा Bachelor of Business पढ्नुभएको छ र New Zealand मा Master of Information Technology apply गर्नुभएको छ भने, केवल "IT is my passion" लेखेर पुग्दैन।

  • किन New Zealand?
  • किन यही university/provider?

02
Exact programme

Course duration, qualification level, entry requirements, tuition fee र intake हेर्नुहोस्।

03
Subjects / Modules

04
Unique features

Laboratory, industry projects, internship, research area, specialist facilities वा particular subjects जस्ता वास्तविक details खोज्नुहोस्।

05

Create Your CV

02
Official Sources Check

AI ले दिएको information university वा Immigration New Zealand को official website मा verify गर्नुहोस्।

03

04
AI language

12. Final New Zealand Application Roadmap
01
CV तयार गर्नुहोस्

आफ्नो education, job, training, skills र projects सहितको accurate CV बनाउनुहोस्।

02
University + Exact Programme Research

Official website बाट course structure, subjects, duration, fees र unique features खोज्नुहोस्।

03

Course, university, New Zealand, career, finance

07
Official Sources बाट Verify गर्नुहोस्

University र Immigration New Zealand को official informationसँग factual claims मिलाउनुहोस्।

08

09
AI Check

10
Specific Sentences

Other Info:

New Zealand student visa

NZD $20,000
Current minimum living-cost evidence

Tertiary-level students studying for one year or more generally need to show NZD $20,000 per year for living costs, separate from tuition requirements.

Check Official FTS Information

New Zealand student visa का केही students लाई visa conditions अनुसार part-time work को अनुमति हुन सक्छ। Current rules अनुसार eligible students ले केही अवस्थामा up to 25 hours per week काम गर्न पाउँछन्।

Wrong approach

Why New Zealand? Why this course and institution? How the course supports your career goals? Reason to return to Nepal Financial background आफ्नो study plan, previous education, work experience र future career plan बीचको connection पनि स्पष्ट देखाउनुहोस्।

विशेषगरी तपाईंको genuine intention to study, financial circumstances, र ties and future plans in Nepal लाई वास्तविक information र supporting evidence सँग consistent हुने गरी प्रस्तुत गर्नुहोस्।

Statement of Purpose

My name is Suman Adhikari, a Nepali citizen from Kathmandu, Nepal. I am applying for a student visa to pursue the Master of Information Technology at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology (BSc. CSIT) from Tribhuvan University and have developed a strong academic and practical foundation in software development, databases, networking and information systems. My decision to pursue postgraduate study is driven by my desire to develop more advanced technical and industry-oriented skills and apply them to my long-term career in Nepal's growing technology sector.

Brief About Myself

I come from a close-knit family in Kathmandu. My father is involved in a small trading business, while my mother manages our household and supports our family responsibilities. As their son, I have strong emotional and family ties to Nepal and remain closely connected to my family and community. Outside academics, I enjoy travelling, football and exploring new technologies. My interest in technology developed naturally through my curiosity about computers and software and later became a clear academic and professional direction.

I consider myself a disciplined, adaptable and continuously learning individual. My undergraduate education introduced me to the fundamentals of computing, while projects and practical exposure helped me understand that successful technology professionals need more than theoretical knowledge. They need the ability to analyse problems, work with modern technologies, communicate effectively and develop solutions that can function in real-world environments. This understanding has motivated me to pursue specialised postgraduate education.

Educational Journey

I completed my School Leaving Certificate/Secondary Education with strong academic performance and subsequently chose the science stream for higher secondary education because of my interest in mathematics and computing. After completing my higher secondary education, I chose BSc. CSIT under Tribhuvan University because the programme provided me with a broad foundation in computer science, information technology, programming and information systems.

During my undergraduate studies, I developed knowledge in subjects including Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Management Systems, Object-Oriented Programming, Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Software Engineering and Web Technology. These subjects helped me understand the technical foundations of software and information systems. However, as I progressed through my degree, I became increasingly interested in how these individual technologies can be integrated to build secure, scalable and practical solutions.

My academic projects further strengthened this interest. I worked on projects involving web-based applications and database management, where I was responsible for designing application logic, connecting databases and testing system functionality. These experiences taught me how classroom concepts translate into practical applications and also showed me the areas where I need more advanced knowledge.

Technical Experience and Practical Exposure

Alongside my academic studies, I actively sought opportunities to develop practical skills. I gained exposure to programming languages such as Java, Python and JavaScript and worked with relational databases and web development technologies. Through academic projects and internship experience, I became familiar with software development workflows, debugging, version control and collaborative development.

During my internship as a Junior Software Developer at a Kathmandu-based IT company, I assisted in developing and maintaining web applications. My responsibilities included implementing application features, working with databases, testing APIs and resolving technical issues identified during development. Working alongside experienced developers helped me understand the difference between completing an academic project and developing software that needs to be reliable, maintainable and useful to actual users.

One of my most valuable learning experiences was working on a web-based business management project. I was involved in database integration and backend functionality and learned how important system design, data security and performance are to a successful application. This experience increased my interest in advanced information technology and strengthened my decision to pursue postgraduate study.

Why I Chose the Master of Information Technology

My undergraduate degree gave me a broad foundation, but I now want to move beyond foundational knowledge and develop deeper technical and professional capabilities. My goal is to build expertise that combines advanced computing knowledge with practical problem-solving and industry experience.

The Master of Information Technology at the University of Auckland is particularly suitable for this purpose because the programme provides options across technical and complementary skills and incorporates an industry internship. The programme's emphasis on business enterprise and project-based learning is especially relevant to me because my previous experience has shown me the importance of applying technical knowledge to practical problems.

One feature that particularly attracted me is the **60-point industry internship**, through which students undertake a substantial real-world project. This is different from simply studying theoretical concepts because it provides an opportunity to apply postgraduate learning in a professional environment. The programme also includes technical and complementary skills components, which fits my goal of becoming a technically capable professional who can also understand project, business and organisational requirements.

Another distinctive feature is that the Master of Information Technology is delivered through the ICT Graduate School collaboration between the University of Auckland and the University of Waikato, with the degree awarded jointly by the two universities. This academic structure is attractive to me because it provides an environment connected with both universities while maintaining a strong focus on producing industry-ready ICT graduates.

Why the University of Auckland

I selected the University of Auckland after comparing postgraduate study options based on programme structure, academic reputation, practical learning and relevance to my career objectives. The University of Auckland is New Zealand's leading university and has a large international student community, which would provide me with exposure to different academic and cultural perspectives.

More importantly, my choice is based on the specific structure of the Master of Information Technology rather than the university's reputation alone. The programme's project-based learning and industry internship directly address the gap I identified between my existing academic knowledge and the advanced practical capabilities I want to develop.

I am particularly interested in areas related to software development, databases, information systems and machine learning. The programme's curriculum includes advanced postgraduate courses such as Foundations of Machine Learning, Advanced Topics in Database Systems and Information Systems Research, depending on the programme structure and approved course selection. These areas align with my existing background while allowing me to progress towards more specialised knowledge.

Why New Zealand

New Zealand is my preferred study destination because I am looking for an education system that combines academic quality with practical learning in a supportive and internationally oriented environment. My decision is based primarily on the suitability of the education system and programme to my academic and career objectives rather than on migration considerations.

I also value New Zealand's multicultural learning environment. Studying alongside students from different backgrounds would allow me to improve my communication, teamwork and ability to work in diverse professional environments. These skills are increasingly important in the technology sector, where software projects are often developed by multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.

I understand that studying in New Zealand also requires careful financial planning. I have therefore considered tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses, insurance, travel and other study-related costs before making this decision. My family and I have planned the funding of my education through documented and legitimate financial resources, and I intend to maintain sufficient funds throughout my study period rather than depending on part-time employment to finance my education.

Why Not Pursue the Same Qualification in Nepal?

Nepal has developing opportunities in Information Technology and I considered postgraduate options available within the country. However, I found that my immediate objective is not simply to obtain another academic qualification. I want to gain advanced technical knowledge combined with structured project-based learning and substantial industry exposure.

The Master of Information Technology at the University of Auckland provides a structure that closely matches this requirement, particularly through its industry internship and combination of technical and complementary skills. My decision to study overseas is therefore based on the specific learning experience I seek and the skills I intend to bring back to Nepal.

Financial Background

My education will be financially supported by my family through our genuine and documented sources of income and savings. My father, who operates a trading business, is the primary contributor to my education expenses, while our family savings and other legitimate financial resources will support the remaining costs.

Before deciding on this programme, we assessed the expected tuition fees, living costs, accommodation, insurance, travel and other expenses associated with studying in Auckland. We have planned the funds required for my education in advance and will provide the appropriate financial documentation to demonstrate the source and availability of these funds.

My intention is to focus primarily on my studies. I do not consider part-time employment in New Zealand as the basis for financing my education, and I understand the importance of complying with all conditions attached to my student visa.

Career Goals

After completing my Master of Information Technology, my plan is to return to Nepal and build my professional career in the country's growing technology sector. In the short term, I intend to pursue roles such as Software Developer, Backend Developer, Systems Analyst or Database/Information Systems Specialist, depending on the opportunities available and the specialisation I develop during my postgraduate study.

My longer-term goal is to progress into senior technical and project responsibilities and eventually contribute to the development of technology solutions for Nepali businesses and organisations. Nepal's digital economy is developing across areas such as fintech, e-commerce, digital services, education technology and business information systems. I want to use the advanced skills gained during my master's degree to participate in this development.

The international academic exposure, advanced technical knowledge and practical experience gained through my postgraduate study will strengthen my professional profile when I return to Nepal. Rather than treating my overseas education as an end in itself, I view it as an investment in the skills and knowledge I need for my long-term career in my home country.

Reasons to Return to Nepal

My intention is to return to Nepal after completing my studies because my long-term personal, professional and financial future is connected to my home country. My parents and close relatives live in Nepal, and I have strong family responsibilities and emotional ties here. My family has supported my education and career development, and I want to remain close to them and contribute to my family's future.

My professional plans are also centred on Nepal. I want to bring the knowledge and practical skills gained from my master's degree back to the Nepali IT sector, where I can pursue professional opportunities and gradually develop into a senior technology professional. My education is therefore connected to a clear career plan: gain advanced knowledge, develop practical expertise, return to Nepal and apply those skills in my professional career.

In the longer term, I also hope to contribute to technology-driven businesses and digital transformation in Nepal. The combination of my undergraduate foundation, professional experience and postgraduate education will provide me with a stronger platform to achieve this goal. My family ties, existing connections, professional plans and long-term financial objectives in Nepal all form an important part of my decision to return after completing my studies.

Conclusion

My decision to pursue the Master of Information Technology at the University of Auckland is the result of a clear progression from my undergraduate education and practical experience towards my future career objectives. The programme's technical coursework, project-based learning and substantial industry internship will help me develop the advanced capabilities I currently seek.

I am financially prepared for my studies, understand the responsibilities associated with studying overseas and have a clear plan for applying my education after returning to Nepal. I believe this qualification will strengthen my technical and professional capabilities and enable me to contribute more effectively to Nepal's technology sector. I am therefore committed to making the most of this academic opportunity and returning to Nepal to continue building my career and future there.

Thank you for considering my application.

Yours sincerely,
Suman Adhikari
